The Swan Valley is the state's oldest wine region and celebrated 180 years of winemaking in 2014.
With its reliably warm and dry climate, the Valley became the birthplace of viticulture during the early settlement of Western Australia and still produces some of the country’s best Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and Shiraz.
The unique conditions enable extra ripening time to produce the high sugar levels required for liqueur Verdelho and liqueur Shiraz – both rarely made outside this region of Western Australia.
